                                         Our "THANK YOU" corner

Our featured Volunteer ...  Socorro Lescano

Doelger Senior Center is my second home and has been a great part of my life for the past 14 years. I’ve enjoyed the diversity and exchange cultural views of people from different walks of life. It helped me improve my physical ability by taking exercise classes. It broadens my knowledge by volunteering in the library and the Lounge.
My educational background is Bachelor of Science in Education, majoring in Library Science and minoring in History at the University of Santo Tomas, the oldest university in the Philippines. I immigrated with my family to the United States in the late 1960s from the Philippines. I worked in Troy, Ohio at the Miami County Public Library as a Librarian.
I married Nick Lescano in 1951 and raised three beautiful daughters, Ellen, Sylvia, and Elizabeth; and have seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
During my visit to San Francisco with my family, I fell in love with the city and found the weather favorable and decided to stay. I worked at Bank of America as a Tape Librarian in the Data Processing Center. After my retirement, I traveled with my late husband to Europe, Asia, and Canada.
I enjoy reading, cooking, exchanging recipes, and meeting people.
Doelger Senior Center has given me many rewarding experiences. I hope to continue my volunteer work and enjoy the activities here.
